Louis the kitten gets separated from his family when he falls asleep in a horse-drawn cart during a game of hide-and-seek. He gets the sense that his home must be beyond the forest he sees when he wakes up, so he journeys through it, encountering a number of animals along his way. A snail warns him about a dangerous spider. A frog shows him how to cross a stream. A rabbit teaches him how to dance. Luckily, his mother is looking for him, too, so when he gets trapped by the terrifying spider, she is able to save him. Then he teaches his brother and sister the rabbit dance.
